A Simple Makeup Routine + A Deeper Kind of Beauty

Day 1 of Glow Slow Holiday is all about simplifying your makeup routine — choosing a few intentional pieces that give you beautiful results without layers of product or stress.

So we can spend less time getting ready, and more time tending to the kind of beauty that actually lasts.

If you want to see exactly how I put this routine together, I shared the full demo on Instagram — come take a peek.

My 5 Step Makeup Routine (clean + simple + nourishing)

Lately, I’ve narrowed down my holiday-ready routine to just four key products. It’s quick, it’s clean, and it still gives me a healthy, rested glow:

✨ 1. Tinted Sunscreen

My go-to, year-round. It’s nourishing, hydrating, and helps protect against the hyperpigmentation I’m prone to. It evens out my skin without covering who I am, which is exactly the vibe I want this season.

✨ 2. Contour Stick

A simple swipe under the cheekbones and around the hairline. Just enough definition to make me look awake, not overly “done.” I use the shade Light.

✨ 3. Tinted Blush (that doubles as a lip tint)

This little stick is magic. I use it on my cheeks and lips with my favorite ILIA lip liner, and it pulls everything together so softly. I love the shade Strawberry Hill.

✨ 4. Olive Rose Setting Spray

A quick mist that sets everything while hydrating the skin.

This setting spray doesn’t just “lock in makeup” —it floods the skin with antioxidants and moisture, helps reduce redness, and leaves a dewy (never greasy) finish. It makes you look like you… but rested.

Why This Makeup Works So Well

These aren’t your average cream products. They’re waterless, which is a big deal.

Waterless formulas mean:

• no unnecessary preservatives

• no drying ingredients

• no fillers

• higher potency

• more nutrient-dense ingredients

And the star ingredient? Hydroxytyrosol — a powerful polyphenol found in the olive leaf.

Hydroxytyrosol is one of the most potent antioxidants in nature. It helps:

✔ brighten and even the complexion

✔ protect skin from inflammation + oxidative stress

✔ support elasticity and firmness

✔ reduce redness

✔ strengthen the skin barrier

It’s skincare and makeup in one — which is why this routine feels so effortless and speaks to my desire for simplicity in an already full season.

 Here’s What Hit Me Recently…

As much as I love a simple routine that makes me feel beautiful…I was reminded recently that this is only one side of beauty for a woman…and honestly, it’s the less important side.

The outside is what everyone sees, so it’s easy to spend our energy there.

But I want the beauty that reflects Jesus. This comes from how I speak, how I love, how I respond, and how I show up. And the only way to cultivate that kind of inner beauty is by spending time in His Word and creating space to journal, pray, and listen.

The Abundant Life Journal: My Daily Anchor

This is why the Abundant Life Journal has become part of my morning routine. It slows me down and brings my heart back to center. It helps me process Scripture, remember God’s faithfulness, and actually apply what He’s teaching me.

Without intention, the season gets loud. But with a journal and an open Bible — it gets quieter, gentler, and more meaningful.

A Scripture for Today

1 Peter 3:3–5 (NIV)

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment…Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

Day 1 Journal Prompt

What is one “outer pressure” I can release today — and how can I redirect that energy into my inner life with God?

Day 1 Wellness Rhythm

Simplify something: your routine, your expectations, your to-do list, or even your mindset. What does that look like in your life today?
